সন্ধ্যা (Shondha) - Evening

সন্ধ্যা(Shondha) - Evening, is my imagination of a mystical brook that plays with the moon’s reflection, stony undulations, trees and finally quenches ‘man’s red flower’ - fire.

Amidst the dark and grey, it draws me to something beautiful and romantic. Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book is filled with allegorical icons, he calls fire, the ‘red flower’ as it signifies man’s ability to change and control his environment. For me, this evening is a symbolic juxtaposition of nature and man, reality and imagination.

This mixed media painting is 18” x 24” and replaces an old painting of mine that was lost in storage fire.

  1. Remembering the days, when we used to go fishing at the Falls Lake, near Durham IBM campus. I can almost see the splash and our campfire.

    You’re truly gifted, bud!

  2. This painting takes me back to the afternoon I lost my mom. That night was the loneliest of my lifetime, roamed the quiet streets alone. I’m not saying this painting is lonely but it brought back some vivid memories and feelings that were buried. If art is supposed to trigger raw emotions, you certainly have succeeded. Many thanks for giving me something that was lost. I don’t know if I can afford to buy this lovely artwork but remain gratefully interested.
